The Concept

When you describe TAP IN to your friends, you should start with “It is a new Northside Community space similar to NEW RULES!” By day, TAP IN will function as a coffee shop to get work done. The kitchen will feature daily lunch specials and in the evening, we will transition into a social space, providing a short menu, craft cocktails, and host a variety of community events and workshops. TAP IN will be available to the community for event rentals!

TAP IN is the latest creation by NEW RULES! NEW RULES is a Northside-based Real Estate Collective that develops Innovation hubs that combine Live, Work, and Play spaces.

The mission of NEW RULES® is to develop the capacity of youth, artists, entrepreneurs, and small business owners to pursue their passions in a sustainable way that creates tangible economic growth in North Minneapolis, supporting the community from within. By taking unproductive buildings in overlooked communities and co-creating innovative spaces designed by the community for the community, NEW RULES seeks to solve the problems they have identified for themselves, personally and professionally, through realty development and activation.

In 2022, NEW RULES acquired the old SuperAmerica site just blocks away that had sat dilapidated and vacant for the past decade. In Phase I, NEW RULES redeveloped the existing 2300 SF structure to house TAP IN - Kitchen, Cocktails & Events.
